239 the end (edited)

The previous chapter was also new today.

Sylvia 239 – The End

The Brit called Jeremy from the airport in Capitol City. He walked across the terminal building to speak to me. “Sylvia, Jeremy just told me they finalized the vote count. The recount is finished and the election has been certified. Girl you won by more than two hundred votes. You split the vote and got enough from each one to win.”

“Holy shit I never thought I would win. I took the job baby sitting the shipment of those missiles, because I never thought I could win, not really. Shit, I have to learn how to be Sheriff,” I said.

“You will do fine,” The Brit said.

“Brit this shit with the Swamp Dog, it has to be over,” I said.

“That’s fine, we just wont ask you any more,” The Brit said.

“Okay, but if you ever need me, I’m there no matter what,” I said.

“No matter what, I know. You should know that goes for all of us as well,” he said. I nodded my head. “What about Kara?”

“Who? I never met anyone by that name,” I said.

“What do you know about the Miami Mafia,” he asked.

“I’m one hundred percent sure they are a myth, like vampires or something,” I said.

“Porno movies?” He asked.

“I’m sorry those accusations were tossed about during the elections. If they can prove I broke some law, not someone’s moral code but some actual law, then I’ll take it serious.”

“So you are really going to change your ways?” he asked.

“I’m sure as hell going to try,” I said.

“Good for you, the old way was going to get you killed. It was just a matter of when and where.” The Brit took a deep breath and smiled at me. “Won’t be near as much fun, but it might be more satisfying.”

“Yeah,” I said.

The end of Sylvia Porter as we know her.

Sheriff Porter starts tomorrow with Chapter One.

From time to time everyone has to turn a new chapter in life. Thats where sylvia is now. I’m sure the ride will be bumpy but every day will be a new challenge. She gets to clean house and do it her way. The ride has been fun to read. I’m positive Sylvia porter will be as well Thank you so much. PLEASE keep up the good work. It is my daily fix.

    • cindypress says:

I’m trying to make every morning Saturday morning at the movies. I don’t remember them from the movies but I found them on line and loved the idea.

      • Walt says:

Oh gosh do I remember the serials in the theater. Couldn’t wait for the next Saturday’s episode of whatever serial was playing. The hero was always near death or some calamity and we just had to see how he survived or got out of it. Ahh the days when you could see a cartoon, a serial and a movie for a quarter. Wow!

      • cindypress says:

the cheapest I remember was the 75cent flicks. am I telling my age here

      • Walt says:

Not nearly as much as I’m telling mine.

  13. highflyernl says:

I think you have more then ten readers cindy.
You daily chapters make my day’s barable

    • cindypress says:

Truth is I love each and every one of you but I would probably do it if there were only ten.

      • highflyernl says:

Well we will always read them Cindy
So i for one am grateful you will post even if there where only ten readers.

      • cindypress says:

I should tell you I do several things on the computer during the day and for some I have to wait two or three minutes. So to stay sane I use the time to work on one of my stories. Then then next morning over coffee before I am fit for any work that is (supposed to be real) I edit the days post. At the moment am a bit ahead so going back a couple of weeks worth of post help with the continuity I hope. So see the writing keeps me sane. I would do it if there were only ten but I’m glad more than ten people like the stories.

  14. dave t says:

Some of us remain mostly silent readers, but strong fans all he same.

    • cindypress says:

Now that you have made the leap to a vocal fan let us all hear from you now and then the story is so much more fun for all of us with the input of those who read.

  15. garydan says:

    Holy Mackerel !!
Been gone almost two weeks. Had complications on 2nd cataract surgery so been in bed for almost the whole time & forbidden to look at a video display, television, etc. Damn near drove me crazy. Almost as bad as drug withdrawl, especially for this story. Fortunately, all is OK & I’m obviously back online again.

When I saw “The End” I was sure Sylvia was going the way of Maxine. It was pain and pleasure reading the 2 weeks worth of the serial before reading the dreaded “The End”. Phew!!
I’ll be looking forward to the serial adventures of…. (imagine a big movie theatre announcers voice saying)…….”Sheriff Sylvia Porter”

P.S. The saturday Matinees at the Coopersville Michigan Movie theatre when I was a kid was 10 cents. Besides the LooneyTunes, I think all the western stars like Roy Rogers, etc. all had serials.

I will be here reading your stories every day Cindy as long as you are cranking them out!!

    • cindypress says:

my dad had cataract surgery but his went well I couldn’t do two weeks without my computer. Glad you are better we missed you.
